Jake West has a B.A Honours Degree in Film & Video (West Surrey College of Art & Design) and has worked extensively as both a director & writer in the film and television industry since 1993.  Jake is passionately committed to creating high concept genre re-defining, projects with high commercial appeal.

Jake is best known for his feature film work in the Horror/Fantasy & Sci-Fi genres. These include “Razor Blade Smile” (1998), “Evil Aliens”(2003), “Pumpkinhead: Ashes to Ashes” (2006) starring Lance Henriksen, “Doghouse” (2009) Starring Stephen Graham, Noel Clarke, Danny Dyer & Neil Maskell,  “The ABC’s of Death” (2012), and “Draconian Days’ (2014)

In 2018 Jake directed 2nd Unit on Jason Mewes highly anticipated directorial debut “Madness in the Method” (of Jay & Silent Bob fame) a comedy drama starring Jason Mewes, Kevin Smith, Gina Carano, Vinnie Jones, Danny Trejo, Brian O’Halloran, Zach Galligan, Blake Harrison, Edmund Kingsley,  Matt Willis, Judd Nelson, Casper Van Dien, Dean Cain, Teri Hatcher, Stan Lee & many more for for a 2019 Release.

Jake  has been developing several scripts including the high-concept werewolf film “Feral”,  which he co-wrote with Spencer Wright (‘Red Mist’) and road movie/thriller “The Fate of Strangers” with writer James Ruzika.

Jake is also attached as director to the forthcoming underwater thriller ‘Relics’ for Unstoppable Entertainment & Producers Noel Clarke & Jason Maza (“Brotherhood”)  The Relics proof of concept teaser short was premiered at the Cineworld Empire Leicester Square on the opening night of Frightfest 2018.

Jake a passionate film connoisseur also owns Nucleus Films, a UK-based independent distribution label he founded in 2003 with film researcher and author Marc Morris. Nucleus Films produced and released the highly acclaimed documentaries directed by Jake West  ‘Video Nasties: Moral Panic, Censorship & Videotape’ and ‘Draconian Days’. Nucleus Films also is a prolific producer of DVD and Blu-Ray extras for most major UK labels.
